Liverpool and Newcastle have reached a sensational deal: Alexander Isak will join Anfield for a record transfer fee in English football history.
Liverpool break transfer record with blockbuster Alexander Isak
According to Sky Sports, Liverpool have agreed to spend £125 million to own Alexander Isak. The deal is expected to be completed on the last day of the transfer window, making the Swedish striker the biggest blockbuster of the summer. The player will sign a 6-year contract with The Kop and undergo a medical on Monday morning.

Liverpool break transfer record with blockbuster Alexander Isak
This £125 million fee officially breaks the £115 million record that Chelsea spent to recruit Moises Caicedo from Brighton in the summer of 2023.
Previously, Liverpool had submitted an offer worth £110 million plus add-ons in early August but Newcastle firmly refused. The “Magpies” at that time affirmed that they would only let Isak leave if they received the full £150 million. However, the situation changed when Isak decided not to go to the field to train or play with his teammates to put pressure on the club to pave the way for him to Anfield.
Another important factor that pushed the deal was Newcastle finding a replacement. The North East team spent £69 million to bring young striker Nick Woltemade from Stuttgart, thereby giving Liverpool the green light to close the blockbuster deal for Isak.
Newcastle are also looking for another striker after Callum Wilson left on a free transfer at the end of last season. However, they have encountered difficulties when many offers for Yoane Wissa (Brentford) and Jorgen Strand-Larsen (Wolves) were rejected.
With the appearance of Alexander Isak, Liverpool not only broke the transfer record but also sent an ambitious message: they are ready to compete for every major title in the new season.
