Friends reveal Jennifer Lopez struggles to save marriage amid Ben Affleck’s ‘darkness’

Jennifer Lopez‘s recent filing for divorce from Ben Affleck may not have surprised many, given the months of speculation surrounding their relationship.

However, Page Six claim that sources close to the singer and actress have revealed that Lopez made earnest efforts to salvage the marriage, even as the couple lived separately for months.

A close friend of Lopez confided that despite her best efforts, the relationship was doomed from the start.

“She loves him and will always love him; that’s the problem,” the friend shared, emphasizing that Lopez held on to the hope of making things work. However, the source also highlighted a significant issue: “Ben has a darkness to him that no one else can fix.”

Affleck, who has been spotted frequently at Hollywood venues without Lopez, notably skipped her 55th birthday celebration in the Hamptons.

Instead, the Oscar-winning actor was seen at the Polo Lounge at the Beverly Hills Hotel, where he spent time with friend Kick Kennedy, daughter of Robert F. Kennedy Jr.

On what would have been their second wedding anniversary, Lopez filed for divorce, marking the end of what she once believed to be her “greatest love story.”

A Hollywood insider noted, “She truly thought this was her fairy tale, but she didn’t fully consider who the man was in that fairy tale.” The source added, “Ben’s not built for the kind of big love Jennifer believes in.”

The Darkness No One Could Fix

Affleck‘s past relationships have similarly struggled with his darker side. His ex-wife, actress Jennifer Garner, once described him as a “complicated guy,” acknowledging his ability to shine brightly when in a good place, but also his tendency to cast a cold shadow when he wasn’t.

“Ben’s proud of taking care of himself and being there for his children, but he’s never fully given himself over to someone else,” a source close to the couple revealed.

Despite Lopez‘s unwavering belief that love could conquer all, Affleck‘s self-reliant nature ultimately led to the marriage’s downfall.

Lopez, who has faced criticism for her public display of affection and storytelling through her recent films and albums, will soon return to the spotlight to promote her new movie “Unstoppable” at the Toronto International Film Festival.

Notably, Affleck, who is a producer on the film, will not be in attendance.

As Lopez moves forward, the Hollywood insider expressed sympathy for her situation, stating, “Jennifer gave it her all-not just for Ben, but for his kids too. But people don’t change, and he was never that good of an actor to pretend otherwise.”
