MLB veteran first baseman Paul Goldschmidt is one of the hard hitting free agents available on the market. Analyst Sean Casey believes that the Yankees will be interested in his services.

The former NL MVP has come to the end of his five-year, $130 million contract with the St. Louis Cardinals and is looking for a good fit in the twilight of his career.

Ex-Yankees coach and host of The Mayor’s Office, Sean Casey, reckons Goldschmidt’s addition to the Yankees lineup would be beneficial for both parties:

“It looks like the Yankees might be in on Goldschmidt. … Don’t forget, Juan Soto’s numbers were no doubt inflated this year with Aaron Judge hitting behinnd him.

“You take Paul Goldschmidt and you stick him in that lineup with some heavy hitters, I guarantee that his numbers in production goes way up.”

Paul Goldschmidt was drafted by the Los Angeles Dodgers in 2008 before he was traded to the Arizona Diamondbacks, where he made his MLB debut in 2011. He has since established himself as one of the best hitters of his generation, winning the NL MVP in 2022 and making seven All-Star appearances over the years.

As the 37-year-old free agent in the market now, Goldschmidt has attracted plenty of interest from MLB clubs despite his age. Former Yankees coach Sean Casey believes that the slugger still has a few good years left in him and would like to see him in the New York lineup.

He brings a wealth of experience with him and would cost less than most of the other options of his calibre available in the market.

MLB insider reports that the San Francisco Giants have had talks with veteran 1B Paul Goldschmidt

While the New York Yankees have been strongly linked to Paul Goldschmidt in the last few days, MLB insider Bob Nightengale reports that there are at least four other teams interested.

Among them, the San Francisco Giants havehad talks with the veteran first baseman, according to Nightengale.

The insider also named the Seattle Mariners, the Washington Nationals and the New York Mets as the other teams interested in Goldschmidt. With the market heating up for the former MVP, he’s expected to sign with one of the teams in the coming days.
