The former Disney star, 27, has admitted choosing outfits that she knew would rile people as she tried to break free from her Hannah Montana image

Miley Cyrus went out of her way to “p**s people off” as she moved away from her Hannah Montana image.

The 27-year-old found fame on the Disney Channel show, in which she starred as normal girl Miley Stewart who moonlights as a pop star from 2006 to 2011.

As the show neared its end, Miley worked hard to get away from her clean-cut image, and debuted a huge change – both physically and musically – with her 2010 single and album Can’t Be Tamed.

And she says that she made a big statement in 2010 when she performed in London in a rather skimpy dress.

Miley, who starred alongside her dad Billy Ray Cyrus on the show, stepped out at London’s G-A-Y nightclub in a tiny black mini dress with cutout detailing on the sides and thighs.

Looking back at her performance on the 10th anniversary of her album, Miley told fans she’d worn this dress for a very specific reason.

During a Q&A session with fans, Miley was asked to name her most unforgettable moment from the era, and she said it was this performance in London.

She told her followers: “I wore a dress I knew would p**s everybody off and that was around the time I really began to ‘spread my wings’ & felt free.

“But….also it took a lot of guts because people around me were saying I would lose all my fans and my career would be over.”

She added: “I couldn’t stay Hannah Montana forever and they knew that, but they also didn’t want me to make a mistake that couldn’t be undone.

“Been so fortunate to have loyal fans (like you) who have always allowed me to experiment and evolve.”

Miley has been making headlines recently following her split from husband Liam Hemsworth after their 10-year romance.

After the break up, she embarked on a romance with Brody Jenner’s ex Kaitlynn Carter, but they soon split.

She’s now dating Australian singer Cody Simpson, and they’ve even been dropping hints that they’ll get married one day.

He told The Sun Herald : “I believe in marriage, but haven’t thought too much about that.

“I am too young to consider it, to be honest.

“I just continue to surround myself with positive women who inspire me and teach me new things every day.

“She is creative and inspiring, fiercely independent and encourages me to be my own person, too. We are both creative individuals who support one another.”
