Wojciech Szczesny may have to pay money to Juventus before being able to join Barca
Wojciech Szczesny has to turn to Juventus before being able to join Barcelona as a free agent, reports Diario Sport’s Toni Juanmarti.
The Bianconeri included a special clause in the agreement with the Pole when the latter was leaving the club in August. According to the clause, Szczesny can’t join a top-level club within a certain period of time after leaving Juventus; otherwise, the player would have to pay the Serie A club the agreed fee. The fee is said to be relatively small, so it possibly won’t be a problem for the 34-year-old.
Szczesny has been heavily linked with coming out of retirement and joining Barca as a free agent to cover for injured Marc-Andre ter Stegen.
The goalkeeper retired from football after making 35 appearances for Juventus last season, conceding 30 goals and keeping 15 clean sheets in Serie A. The 34-year-old also played for Arsenal, Roma and Brentford in his career.
