After Kylian Mbappe joined Real Madrid last summer, there were some worries about potential tensions with other “big egos” in the locker room, particularly with Vinicius Junior, who competes with him for the left wing position. However, the two have demonstrated a strong bond.
During an unscripted interview at Real Madrid’s open training session (via Marca), they praised each other warmly. Mbappe first emphasized Vinicius’ humble nature.
“What do I admire most about Vini? His humility, without a doubt. Everyone knows his talent and sees the quality he brings every few days. This year, he has collected many team titles and individual accolades, but I want to highlight his humility. He’s always kind to everyone in the locker room, and I really appreciate that.
“We can definitely score many more goals together, and we will. I had to adjust to a new team, and the guys in the dressing room have been very supportive. I’m grateful to them all.”
Vinicius also appreciates his teammate both on and off the field, expressing confidence in Mbappe’s continued growth as he adapts to playing for the reigning La Liga and European champions.
“Kylian is an incredible person and player. He’s really easy to play alongside. He will score plenty of goals for all the Real Madrid fans. This is just the beginning.”
