Two ways Barcelona could line-up against Monaco with Dani Olmo ruled out: shown in pics

Barcelona suffered a major injury blow in their 4-1 battering of Girona as Dani Olmo picked up a knock.

He had to be taken off in the second half after struggling to move around and is reportedly going to miss the UEFA Champions League opener against AS Monaco.

Fortunately for Hansi Flick, there are a few options at his disposal to replace Olmo in the starting XI. Here we look at two ways he can line up the Blaugrana against Monaco.

Option 1: Ferran in left-wing role

With the absence of Olmo, the German gaffer could get back to playing Raphinha in that no.10 role in his system.

In that case, Ferran Torres could get to start as a left-winger and try to make up for his sending-off against Girona.

Option 2: Pedri moves up to no.10

If Flick does not want to start Ferran, there is always the option of moving Pedri further up the pitch. The Spaniard can easily play in that attacking midfield role and can drift up to the pitch, allowing Raphinha to stay in that left-wing position.

Eric Garcia can be brought into the team to play as a defensive midfielder after doing well in that role at Girona last season.
