‘The photo of Leo, Xavi and me on the podium is the biggest prize of that day’: Andres Iniesta on not winning 2010 Ballon d’Or

'The photo of Leo, Xavi and me on the podium is the biggest prize of that day': Andres Iniesta on not winning 2010 Ballon d'Or

“The photo of Leo [Messi], Xavi and me on the podium of the Ballon d’Or is the biggest prize of that day, of that moment,” Andres Iniesta has said when asked about his thoughts on not winning the 2010 Ballon d’Or.

“Three guys from La Masia… I think it’s even more than whoever won it,” he added.

Lionel Messi beat Andres Iniesta and Xavi for the 2010 Ballon d’Or after scoring 47 goals and providing 12 assists in 53 appearances for Barcelona in the 2009/10 season. Iniesta, in turn, recorded 10 goal contributions for Blaugrana that campaign but massively contributed to Spain’s World Cup glory.
