Taylor Swift has made history yet again as the first female artist to amass 100 million monthly listeners on Spotify.
The impressive figures have earned her the record for most monthly listeners on Spotify (female).
The surge in listeners is thanks in part to the release of her latest album Speak Now (Taylor’s Version) and the huge success of her Ears Tour.
She claimed the record on 29 August, and on that date, her tracks “Cruel Summer”, “august”, “Style”, “Blank Space” and “Anti-Hero” were all in Spotify’s Top 50 most played tracks.
Taylor, 33, takes the record from Miley Cyrus, whose track “Flowers” boosted her to over 81 million monthly listeners in March this year.
The record has also previously been held by Dua Lipa with 65.6 million monthly listeners and by Ariana Grande with 46.9 million.
Canadian singer The Weeknd holds the male equivalent of this record with 101.3 monthly listeners as of March.
He was the first artist overall to reach that 100 million milestone.
Not too long ago, it was revealed that Taylor had spent more weeks at No.1 than any other female artist in history.
Taylor broke her own record for most cumulative weeks at No.1 on US albums charts (solo female), with her 12 US No.1 albums spending a combined total of 63 weeks in the top spot as of 29 July.
Proving her longevity in the music industry, she had previously set this record twice before – with 47 weeks in 2020 and 56 weeks in 2022.
With all but her debut album, Taylor Swift, reaching the top spot in the US charts and her consistently breaking records, Taylor doesn’t appear to be going anywhere any time soon.
Re-recording her albums following a very public dispute over her masters has proved incredibly fruitful for the star.
Revisiting her back catalogue inspired her Eras Tour and added even more No.1 albums to her long list of accolades.
There are rumours that Reputation could be next to get the (Taylor’s Version) treatment, and if it’s true, we’re expecting a few more records to come along at the same time.
