Soulja Boy broke his silence on the effects of an idol’s critical comments during a recent live broadcast. If the rapper is to be believed, Snoop Dogg had some harsh words to say about the 2007 single “Crank That.” Since he was someone the adolescent looked up to, he went on to describe how his remarks affected him.
“I still f*ck with Snoop Dogg,” Soulja Boy started. “He was all, ‘Crank That?’ when I initially came out. What the h*ck is that? They have since made up, but the criticism was hurtful to him at the time. “N***a that hurt my f*cking soul, I wanted to cry,” said he. “I was 17 at the time so I’m like, ‘this is my f*cking idol f*ckin’ telling me that I suck.’”
Snoop Dogg later met with Soulja Boy face to face and expressed regret for his previous harsh comments. “I met Snoop Dogg in person and he was like ‘man, my bad,’” said he. Continuing, the Chicagoan detailed how Snoop Dogg initially stated that he simply didn’t “understand” the music. Thankfully, he warmed up to the song in due time.
Although he may have pardoned Snoop Dogg for his “Crank That” critique, he spared no expense last month when Chinese Kitty ripped into his songs. Soulja Boy retaliated when the 28-year-old woman claimed she felt “forced” to listen to his songs due to her son’s fandom. “F*ck you all, dude. Why are you continually attempting to put me in my place? He just expressed his affection for her. Is Soulja Boy’s answer to Snoop Dogg’s criticisms of his music something you can get behind?
