Lionel Messi named the 10 favorite teammates of his career back in 2023. The Argentine is one of the greatest players to have graced the game and etched his status in football folklore by winning the 2022 FIFA World Cup.

The eight-time Ballon d’Or winner enjoyed a tremendous run with Barcelona, scoring 672 goals and registering 303 assists from 778 appearances. He arrived at Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) in 2021 following the expiry of his contract with the Catalans. After conquering Ligue 1, Messi moved to the MLS in 2023, joining Inter Miami, where he currently plies his trade.

The six-time European Golden Shoe winner has also played with some of the best players in the world during his time with the Catalans and the Parisians. Speaking to Titan Sports in 2023, Lionel Messi named Ronaldinho, Neymar and Luis Suarez among his 10 favorite teammates.

I was lucky to play for a long time at Barcelona… with many of the best players. Like Ronaldinho, Deco, Eto’o, Suarez, Xavi, [Andres] Iniesta, [Sergio] Busquets, I was lucky enough to play with the best players and enjoy the game with them. Speaking of which, I almost forgot about Neymar because there are so many people,” said Messi.

He continued:

“There must be many players I forgot to mention. I’ve been lucky enough to play with the best players, with the best strikers. Like Neymar, Eto’o, Suarez, [Zlatan] Ibrahimovic and [David] Villa and many more. I’ve been comfortable playing with all of them, or almost all of them, because I’ve been lucky enough to play with the best of them… playing with them is easy.”

Interestingly, Messi shared the pitch with Neymar at Barcelona as well as PSG.

Inter Miami have enjoyed a steady rise ever since Lionel Messi arrived at the Chase Stadium in 2023. The Argentinean helped the Herons win the Leagues Cup last season, finishing with ten goals and one assist from seven games in the tournament.

The eight-time Ballon d’Or winner has been equally decisive this year, scoring 16 goals and setting up 12 more from 17 games in all competitions. Inter Miami are leading the Eastern Conference table after 30 games and are likely to be in the mix for the MLS Cup this season.

With former Barcelona teammates Luis Suarez and Sergio Busquets also in the team, Lionel Messi could add further stars to his already glittering career by conquering the US this year.
