Jurgen Klopp was back at Anfield on Thursday for the first of Taylor Swift’s shows at Liverpool’s iconic ground – and if his social media is anything to go by, he clearly enjoyed himself

Jurgen Klopp was back at Anfield to see Taylor Swift

Jurgen Klopp certainly enjoyed his return to Liverpool on Thursday, and it seems as though Taylor Swift might have a new fan.

The former Reds boss was back at Anfield for the first time since his final game as the club’s manager last month. It wasn’t his old side he was there to see though.

Instead, Klopp was back on Merseyside to see the first of Swift’s three shows as she brings her record-breaking Eras Tour to Liverpool. The German was seen alongside his wife Ulla during the show.

Klopp posted a video to his Instagram account before making his return to Anfield. “So! Back in Liverpool and now it’s Taylor time!” the former Liverpool boss said.

Once inside the ground, Klopp posted a selfie showing the crowd at Anfield, along with the caption: “What a great night!” He didn’t stop there though.

Klopp later posted another selfie, this time of himself inside the iconic ground wearing a pink cowboy hat. He captioned the picture “I guess I am officially a ‘Swiftie’.”

The picture led to some brilliant reactions on social media, with Klopp clearly enjoying his sabbatical away from football.

One fan responded: “Jurgen Klopp, what a man” along with heart and laughing face emojis. Another wrote: “Meanwhile, Jurgen Klopp has set up an Instagram account and is out there living his best life.”

One fan poked fun at the timing, saying: “Didn’t have this down as how I’d see Klopp at Anfield but here we are,” as another posted: “Klopp entered his IG girlie era.”

Swift’s first show at Anfield saw the singer break the record for an attendance at Anfield, a record that had been held by the Reds since 1952. Not only that, but it was her 100th show of her tour, with Swift marking it in style at Liverpool’s iconic ground.

Jurgen Klopp returned to Anfield on Thursday night… and couldn’t resist getting into the swing of things as he enjoyed Taylor Swift’s record-smashing Eras tour.

The former Reds boss was spotted among the crowd at her 100th concert, less than one month after bidding an emotional goodbye to the club after stepping down at the end of the season.

Since leaving his position, Klopp has been active on social media, watched his old team Borussia Dortmund lose in the Champions League final, and was seen with his predecessor, Brendan Rodgers, in Spain last week.

The German then made a return to Merseyside for a special evening at the sold-out MandS Bank Arena. On Thursday, he was back in L4, this time as a fan, to watch the American pop sensation perform.

Klopp sent fans into meltdown as he announced his return for the first of three sold-out Taylor Swift gigs, even dropping a shoutout to the ‘Love Story’ songstress. He excitedly shared: “So! Back in Liverpool and now it’s Taylor time. So three things I had to do today.”

“No I had two. A barber appointment with Umut then… we’re going out to Anfield. First time going to not for a football game but in the stands and watching Taylor Swift. So yeah, I’m not Taylor made obviously… but Taylor ready.”

“Let’s go to Anfield and have a good night. A great night would be cool. See you there.”

And as Taylor Swift wowed the crowd, Klopp became an unexpected highlight himself.

Donning an all-black ensemble and his trademark cap flipped back, he turned heads with an unusual choice of pink glasses and at one point borrowed wife Ulla’s pink hat to get in the spirit of the show. He was also seen sharing a warm hug with a steward before enjoying the performance from the Main Stand.

Nice hat Jurgen

However, Klopp’s stint in Liverpool is only fleeting with the European Championships calling him back to Germany. He’ll be keen to see Die Mannschaft kick off their campaign on Friday night in Munich, when they meet Scotland in the Euro 2024 opener.

Liverpool’s Andy Robertson, who played 297 times under Klopp, leads the Scottish side and the left-back shared that Klopp sent him a heartfelt text last week after he set a new record with the Tartan Army.

“It was a very nice message from him, which he didn’t have to do, but I appreciated it massively,” said Robertson. “All he said was congratulations.

“I think he is at the game tomorrow [Germany vs Scotland] so it will be interesting to see who he supports. I’m sure there is only one answer for that. I don’t need any advice from him, I think he knows that.

“Hopefully he can enjoy the game, but hopefully not too much.”
