Jennifer Lopez filed for divorce from Ben Affleck on Tuesday leading many fans to wonder when it all went wrong.

And now fans have speculated that one shocking moment from last year is what led the couple to get a divorce.

In May of 2023, the famous couple went viral in a very awkward moment where visibly annoyed Ben, now 52, slammed the car door behind Jennifer, now 55.

At the time, fans of the couple were seen to have got a surprisingly unvarnished look at the apparent tensions between them during the public outing.

The couple were out and about in Los Angeles and had an awkward moment as they got back in their car.

She was already safely in the car and out of the way, but the display shocked and disturbed some of JLo and Ben’s fans.

It’s not clear if there were tensions that day between the two, or if other factors led him to get ‘stressed,’ but the two didn’t betray any sign of tension earlier in the day when they were seen holding hands as they walked toward the car, with Ben sporting a big grin as he carried a large iced coffee, while Jennifer sipped on a smaller hot drink.

After the divorce news broke on Tuesday, many fans flocked to X (formally Twitter) to point out they believed as the smoking gun to signal the end of the power couple’s marriage.

One user wrote: ‘Some people have bad days while others are clearly unhappy in their situation(s). This was a dead giveaway.’

Another said: ‘I know J-Lo has got to have enough rings to form the infinity gauntlet.

‘Because that door slam from Ben [face exhaling emoji]. I know that slam….. That’s that, “fed up with this BS” door slam.’

Others said they knew that the relationship was over as soon as the video hit the internet.

An X user wrote: ‘Knew it was over when he slammed that door.’

JLo and Ben first started dating in 2002 after bonding on set of the film Gigli, and they quickly got engaged.

But they called it quits in 2004, just before they were set to become husband and wife.

They both went on to wed other people – she exchanged vows with Mac Anthony in 2004, while he walked down the aisle with Jennifer Garner in 2005 – but after splitting from their respective partners, they eventually got back together.

They rekindled their love in 2021 and went on to wed in Las Vegas in July 2022.

But now, after months of ongoing rumors that their marriage was ending, Jennifer has filed for divorce.

She listed the date of separation as April 26, 2024, as per legal docs seen by DailyMail.com.

The couple did not sign a prenuptial agreement before tying the knot, insiders have revealed.

Ben previously spoke about wanting to keep their relationship ‘private’ in JLo’s documentary The Greatest Love Story Never Told.

The film followed the making of her latest album, This Is Me… Now, most of which was inspired by her romance with Ben

During one part of the movie, Ben admitted that he was ‘taken aback’ when he found her musicians rifling through his private love letters which JLo had given them to look at as inspiration for her next album.

The actor had clung onto his correspondence with the singer during his 13-year marriage to Garner – and later had the letters and emails bound into a book to gift her when they reunited in 2021.

He told the camera: ‘Things that are private I always felt are sacred and special because, in part, they’re private.’

 Asked by Variety earlier this year whether she and Affleck would ever star in another movie together, Lopez said, ‘Maybe, in the right thing.’

‘I mean, we love working together and being together, so maybe,’ she added.

Ben was last seen on Tuesday morning with his ex wife Jennifer Garner and kid Fin. They were returning from taking their eldest child Violet, 18, to college.

Hours later Lopez filed for divorce. It was her two year wedding anniversary with him.
