Despite the fact that Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez have had a famously amicable relationship after their divorce, reports indicate that Garner will not be inviting Affleck to her upcoming wedding due to the potential of him bringing Lopez.
The 52-year-old actress — best known for her roles in projects such as Pearl Harbor, Alias, 13 Going on 30, Juno, Ghosts of Girlfriends Past, Elektra, Love, Simon, The Adam Project, and The Last Thing He Told Me — was married to Affleck from 2005 to 2018 and shares three children with the Oscar-winning director, which has been the catalyst behind them maintaining a friendly relationship after their divorce.
This good-natured relationship between Affleck and Garner won’t be enough to earn him a wedding invite, however, as Garner is reportedly worried that having Affleck, and therefore J. Lo, at her wedding could cause drama and “overshadow” her big day.
“Allegedly, the Elektra star wants an intimate and drama-free wedding, which is why she will exclude Affleck to avoid media attention, as he may attend with his wife, Jennifer Lopez, which could overshadow her special day”
“’It would be awkward to have Ben at the wedding because Jen would have to invite JLo. And Jen and John don’t want to invite any more publicity than necessary, they want no distractions. This is their special day. They’re much more low-key and want to keep their wedding private,’ said a source.” [News 18 via Life and Style]
According to recent reports, however, Affleck and Lopez are likely headed for a divorce of their own, which means that there’s no guarantee Lopez would show at the wedding even if her husband (or potentially soon-to-be ex-husband) was invited.
Garner will next be seen on the big screens this summer when she reprises her infamous Daredevil role of Elektra in the upcoming MCU film Deadpool & Wolverine, which hits theaters on July 26.
