Jelly Roll on Collaborating with Eminem: ‘A Dream Come True’

Jelly Roll recently got the opportunity of a lifetime—working with his childhood hero, Eminem. The country star was featured on the final track of Eminem’s latest album, The Death of Slim Shady (Coupe De Grâce).
The song, Save Me From Myself, heavily samples Jelly Roll’s 2020 hit, “Save Me”, making this collaboration extra special.
Jelly Roll’s Emotional Reaction
After hearing the news, Jelly Roll took to Instagram to share his excitement and gratitude.
“I always say my childhood heroes were somewhere between Willie Nelson and Eminem,” he wrote.
The 39-year-old Grammy winner reminisced about growing up listening to Eminem’s albums, including The Slim Shady LP, The Marshall Mathers LP, and The Eminem Show.
Jelly Roll also opened up about his tough childhood, revealing that he was first jailed at 14 and often felt misunderstood. But through it all, Eminem’s music was his guiding light.
“I related to every word Eminem wrote. I felt like he understood me, which was rare.”
So when he got the call that Eminem wanted to sample his song, he was overwhelmed with emotion.
“To hear him use Save Me to talk about what could’ve happened if he let his demons win—it brought me to tears.”
More Than Just a Sample
This isn’t the first time the two have shared a stage. Earlier this year, Jelly Roll joined Eminem for a live performance of “Sing For The Moment” at the Live From Detroit: The Concert at Michigan Central.
For Jelly Roll, this collaboration isn’t just about music—it’s about coming full circle from being a fan to working alongside his biggest inspiration.
