Fans name one big weakness Szczesny has – and one thing he does much better than Ter Stegen
With Marc-Andre Ter Stegen being out for 7 to 8 months due to knee injury, Barcelona are looking for a free agent goalkeeper to replace the German. Right now, the most popular option fans name is Wojciech Szczesny, who retired less than a month ago.
This is what Barca fan NealGardner_ wrote on X:
“If your system prides itself on a deep buildup, it’s pretty imperative that your GK can hold their own on the ball — else, there’s an obvious liability.
“That being said, I’m still for the signing of Szczęsny. It’s circumstantial, of course, but he’d be a decent option. The best of what’s available, at least, and by some distance.”
However, some fans think the Polish goalie is not this bad with his feet – and that he even has one big strength compared to Ter Stegen:
“He’s not even that bad in terms of distribution, Ter Stegen is just better in that aspect but Szczesny is a much better shot stopper which makes up for it.”
“Ter Stegen’s ball-playing is been trash in this last years”
