Dame Dash Exposes How Jay Z Was Setup Multiple Times & Speaks on Diddy and Mase!

Right now, Jay-Z’s silence is doing him no favors. If he is innocent, he needs to speak up and answer questions. Not long ago, Dame Dash commented on the charges against Jay-Z. While we’ve all seen how that situation unfolded, Dame’s perspective on Jay-Z being in this position is intriguing.

“What’s even crazier is how people are reacting to the accusation. They’re putting him through the wringer, and I’ve never seen that happen before. Normally, things just get brushed under the rug for him. I’ve been accused of things I didn’t do, but I was never scrutinized as much as he is now. It’s just odd to see him being looked at this way by the mainstream media. Usually, he gets a pass, especially with white media. He has control over Black media because many of them work with him or do business with him. But this time, not even platforms like Drink Champs or Charlamagne Tha God can protect him. He needs to get on People Magazine and Entertainment Tonight because they’re all over him. But the real question is, why now?”

Dame Dash also pointed out how Jay-Z had been put in compromising positions before. For instance, he recalled an incident with Mase before a music video shoot.

“I ran into Mase right before he did that video with the red shiny suit, and I teased him about it. He was frustrated, saying, ‘Man, Puff got me doing this.’ Imagine this—Jay-Z, one of the most successful rappers ever, almost dressed like a clown for a music video. I had to step in and convince Jay to go with a better version of the outfit. I told him, ‘Jay, this guy is playing us,’ but he still went through with it. That decision almost ruined us.”

The whole idea for the video came from none other than Diddy. Jay-Z wanted a Hype Williams video, and Hype’s treatment had Jay looking like a clown, complete with his nose inflating like a balloon. Dame objected, but Jay was convinced it was necessary to fit in with the trends of the time. The result was the infamous “Sunshine” video, which led to harsh criticism. “We got roasted for that video. Everything was on the line—Lyor Cohen even told us he wasn’t backing us anymore. I was ready to return his advance money and go independent. Instead, we decided to make a movie, ‘Streets Is Watching,’ and that’s what set us on the right path.”

Dame has always preferred B-sides over radio singles. “I don’t want to hear what everyone else is listening to. When you get in my car, you should hear something exclusive because I’m Dame Dash. I should always have something fresh playing.”

The breakup of Roc-A-Fella Records was a major moment in music history. “Every single movie, every single idea, Rocawear—any vertical that came from Roc-A-Fella was my idea. Hype tricked us into doing ‘Sunshine.’ That video almost ruined us. Lyor straight-up told us we weren’t hot anymore and stopped investing. So we went independent, shot ‘Streets Is Watching,’ and when that started gaining traction, they all wanted back in.”

Dame also spoke on Puff Daddy’s influence over artists like Mase and how he tried to sign Roc-A-Fella artists. “Puff was trying to get our artists to write for him, but I didn’t let them go without me. I wanted to make sure they weren’t influenced by whatever was going on over there. I always made sure to negotiate their deals personally.”

Dame implies that Puff had a history of engaging in clown-like activities. “I don’t think I’m exaggerating, but even I got caught up in the video trends of that era. While Puff’s influence was undeniable, there was more going on behind the scenes.”

Mase himself has spoken out about his time at Bad Boy. “Harlem World was just something I put together because all I knew was Harlem. But after traveling with Puff, I saw people around the world loved me just as much as my hometown did. However, I felt like I never got paid what I was worth or received the respect I deserved. Puff would be out partying while I was in the studio writing records.”

Diddy had his own perspective on Mase’s claims. “A thief is the worst thing. Their hand should be chopped off. I did one album with Mase. One album. How much money do you think I owe him? After that, he became a fake pastor and conned people. And now y’all are letting him throw dirt on my name? Mase owes me $3 million. That’s facts. I have receipts.”

Mase countered by claiming he built Bad Boy Records, writing songs, creating hits, and shaping the label’s iconic sound. Eventually, he confronted Diddy live on air at a radio station. “I was trying to get my paperwork signed. Puff was trying to keep me locked in. I just wanted my freedom.”

At that moment, Mase walked away from the deal, gaining leverage in negotiations. Later, he proudly displayed his release papers from Diddy on camera, saying, “I had to wait 10 years for this paperwork. It’s love. I guess we don’t have any problems after all.”
