Cristiano Ronaldo’s YouTube channel has taken a cheeky dig at Lionel Messi and other legendary footballers in the latest video. The Portuguese star has produced a Formula 1-inspired race video where he is seen passing footballers to become the first to score 900 career goals.

In the video, Ronaldo is pictured as a Formula 1 driver and is seen racing past the likes of Wayne Rooney, Zlatan Ibrahimovic, and Pele. The voiceover makes it like a race in which the Al Nassr superstar starts at the back of the grid and makes it to the pole by the end.

Towards the end, when Ronaldo is passing the likes of Messi and Pele, the voiceover says:

“He passes Pele they show respect to each other but wait his toughest opponent is here – Lionel Messi! And Cristiano pushes himself to the max and passes the Argentinian! Bye Messi, bye! Cristiano is over 900 (and) this is unreal! A thousand goals are within reach. Join us next time to witness together as he reaches the one 1,000 goals mark”

Cristiano Ronaldo became the first footballer to score 900 career goals when he netted against Croatia in September. The 39-year-old is now targeting 1000 goals despite acknowledging he is close to retirement.

Cristiano Ronaldo previously took a dig at Pele’s goal tally

Cristiano Ronaldo insisted he wants to score 1000 career goals before hanging up his boots. The Portuguese ace previously took a dig at Pele’s goal tally and hinted there is no proof for all the goals the legendary Brazilan scored in his career.

He told Rio Ferdinand in a video released on his YouTube channel earlier this year:

“I want to reach 1,000 goals. If I don’t have any injuries, this for me is the most important [thing], I want that. For me, the best mark that I can have in football is to reach, first, 900 goals. After, my challenge is to be at 1,000 goals. All the goals I have scored, they have video. They all have video. Listen, I respect all of them [Pele and Di Stefano]. And if you want more goals, I can bring them from training, too. And I will prove to the people after. They prefer this player, or this is the best one. I don’t care about that.”

Cristiano Ronaldo is currently on 904 goals and is going strong for Al Nassr. He will also be with the Portugal national side this month for their UEFA Nations League matches.
