“I think I’m going to miss that” – Cristiano Ronaldo names 2 things he will miss the most after retirement
Cristiano Ronaldo has named two things he will miss the most when he eventually retires from playing football. The five-time Ballon d’Or winner admitted he will miss the adrenaline and the nervous feeling he has experienced during the course of his career.
It is a common knowledge that Cristiano Ronaldo is closing in on the period when he will finally call time on his football career. At 39 years old, he has just a couple of years to play the game before he hangs up his boots.
Ronaldo appeared in an interview on Manchester United legend Rio Ferdinand’s YouTube channel where he was asked about his life after football. There he opened up on what he will miss the most post retirement, saying:
I’m not going to have the adrenaline… or to be nervous, I think I’m going to miss that.
“Because other parts, I’m in good control. I have good people around me, I have good business, I have good things, a good income.
“But I think the adrenaline of football is never going to exist more. This is why I’m going a little bit further in football.”
Cristiano Ronaldo further explained that while he’d love to contribute more to the game, age wouldn’t allow him to go beyond the next two to three years. He said:
“With 40s, you say, ‘I give everything,’ do you understand? 40 or 41 or 42, it doesn’t matter. You say, ‘I give my body for 25 years of football, I cannot give more because the age doesn’t allow [me] to go further,’ for example.”
The Portuguese icon further added:
“This is why I’m extending my longevity and this is why I take care of myself, keep working, because I know that [in] two or three years more, I still can produce something good.”
With a career that has seen him win the UEFA Champions League five times, the Euros, the Nations League, the Ballon d’Or and several other team and individual accolades, Ronaldo has undoubtedly had a historic career. He will certainly go down as one of the greatest players the sport has witnessed.
Cristiano Ronaldo off to a brilliant start this season
Despite having crossed 39 years of age and closing in on 40, Cristiano Ronaldo doesn’t look like he’s ready to slow down anytime soon. At least that is what his performances over the last couple of weeks suggest.
The Portuguese legend has been a standout performer for Al-Nassr since the campaign kicked off as they aim to dethrone Al Hilal from the summit of Saudi Arabian football. So far, the former Real Madrid and Manchester United talisman has bagged four goals and two assists for Al-Nassr in five games this season so far.
After featuring in all of Al-Nassr’s games since the term kicked off, the five-time Ballon d’Or winner is expected to sit out today’s (September 20) clash with Al-Ettifaq in the Saudi Pro League due to a virus. Hopefully, he’ll be back in the line-up when the club returns to action next week.
