Crazy Stat Backs Up Accusations Chicago Sky Have Been Targeting Caitlin Clark

Seemingly every time she’s played the Chicago Sky, Indiana Fever rookie guard Caitlin Clark takes a beating.

Chicago has been accused on more than one occasion of targeting Clark specifically, and it did nothing to help its case in Friday’s 100-81 loss when the team was assessed two Flagrant 1 fouls, both coming against Clark. The Sky were raked over the coals on social media following the game with fans claiming its distaste for Clark was blatantly obvious given both Michaela Onyenwere and Diamond DeShields’ collisions with Clark appeared to be deliberate.

And there may be some truth to those accusations. Seventeen percent of the flagrant fouls in the WNBA this season have been committed against Clark. Of that number, the Sky were responsible for 80% of the flagrants committed against Clark.

Though the regular-season series is over between the two teams (Indiana went 3-1 against Chicago), there’s a small chance they could meet again in the playoffs.

If the Sky finish as the No. 8 seed, they’ll play the No. 1 seed in the first round of the postseason. If the Fever can move up to the No. 5 seed, they’ll play the No. 4 seed in the first round. If both teams win, they’ll meet in the semifinals.

If the Fever finish as the No. 6 seed and the Sky as the No. 8 seed, the only way they’d meet in the postseason is in the WNBA Finals.
