Barcelona's tactical shape after red card v Monaco shown in lineup

Barcelona were shown a red card just 10 minutes into their Champions League game against Monaco. That card went to Eric Garcia following a mixup with Ter Stegen.

Immediately after the red card, Barca’s tactical shape was changed immediately by Hansi Flick.

Pedri who started the game in the number 10 role was asked to drop deeper and play as a double pivot with Marc Casado.

Raphinha had to do a double task as a left winger and a number 10. Lamine Yamal was also required to drop deeper when Barca were without the ball. With the ball, Lamine hugged the wings.

Have a look.

The system allowed Barca to remain compact in the middle but the team did not sustain control of the game.

Tactically, Barca were okay in this game but the individual mistakes cost the team. Players like Pedri, Raphinha and Lewandowski didn’t do enough to help the team win the game.
