Barcelona and Nike hold meeting to discuss historic contract
An important meeting took place between Barcelona officials and sportswear giant Nike on Tuesday, according to a report from Spain.
The relationship between the club and Nike had been strained in recent months, with Barcelona president Joan Laporta even announcing plans to terminate the contract. However, a court ruling forced the club to honour the agreement, which runs until 2028.
Following the legal outcome, both parties have now re-entered negotiations to extend the partnership, with the possibility of securing Barcelona the most lucrative deal in football history.
According to Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona executives met with a Nike delegation led by European marketing director Albert Baronet to discuss future plans.
On the same day, Barcelona unveiled their third kit, including a green shirt that pays tribute to the women’s football team, who have achieved great success for the club in recent seasons.
