50 Cent ‘Disappointed’ in J. Cole for Staying Quiet During Kendrick & Drake Feud…

50 Cent recently shared his thoughts on J. Cole’s decision to stay out of the high-profile feud between Kendrick Lamar and Drake during an interview with Big Boy. The rapper expressed disappointment in Cole’s decision, as he believes it denied fans an exciting and competitive moment in hip-hop.

Reflecting on Cole’s decision, 50 Cent compared the situation to Drake’s experience as a consistent winner in the culture. “When you win over and over again, people begin to turn on you—they start treating you like an enemy,” he explained. He suggested that, despite Cole being one of the top artists in the game, his choice to avoid engaging in the feud may have missed an opportunity for artistic growth and competition.

J. Cole’s Stance on the Feud

The tension escalated after J. Cole dropped his track “7 Minute Drill” on his project *Might Delete Later*. Though the Kendrick-Drake rivalry had simmered for years, this track added fuel to the fire. However, rather than fully diving into the conflict, Cole chose to step back, explaining in his song “Poor Antonio” that engaging in the feud might cost him a brotherly bond. In the lyrics, he reflected:

> “They wanted blood, they wanted clicks to make their pockets grow.

> I wouldn’t have lost the battle—I would have lost a bro.

> I would have gained a foe, and all for what?”

Cole later publicly apologized to Kendrick Lamar during a live performance, calling his initial diss track “the lamest thing” he’d ever done. He explained how the incident disturbed his peace and made him feel spiritually out of alignment.

50 Cent’s Perspective

50 Cent, known for thriving on rivalries throughout his career, admitted he wanted to see Cole engage in the competitive spirit of hip-hop. “If you’re really brothers, why not compete?” he questioned, arguing that artistic competition doesn’t have to compromise personal relationships. He added that testing one another’s limits could push artists to create some of their best work.

However, 50 acknowledged that Cole likely had his reasons for stepping away. He speculated that Cole prioritized preserving peace and mental health over engaging in what could have been a damaging feud. Despite this, 50 felt fans were robbed of the opportunity to witness a legendary three-way lyrical showdown between Kendrick, Drake, and Cole.
