'I take responsibility': Hansi Flick explains rotations against Osasuna leading to heavy defeat for Barca

Hansi Flick made six changes from his team that beat Villarreal 5-1 last week ahead of the game against Osasuna. That decision backfired.

“It’s my responsibility to take care of the players, and some of them had played too many minutes. Their rest was necessary,” Flick told the media after the game.

“After the international break, many players will return, we will have more to choose from. The many rotations are no excuse, but we had no other option.

“It wasn’t a good game. We made a lot of mistakes, and we made a lot of rotations to the team and maybe that’s one reason why, but they were necessary, there are a lot of games and a lot of minutes accumulated.

“We have to accept this loss. We didn’t play well. I take responsibility.

“If you want to blame someone, blame me. I made the mistakes. I overplayed the players and now we had to rest them,” the Barca coach added.

Barcelona lost heavily to Osasuna 4-2 away from home. At one point they were losing 4-1 before Lamine Yamal scored a brilliant goal.
