The Tesla Cybertruck’s wedge-shaped design has been controversial, but the electric truck’s virtually indestructible exoskeleton is truly impressive. During a live demonstration, the stainless steel body didn’t collapse when hit with a sledgehammer. The same can’t be said for the “breakable” armored glass, however, which shattered after a steel ball was thrown at the window.
According to Tesla, the Cybertruck’s exterior is made from ultra-strong 30X cold-rolled stainless steel, the same material that SpaceX uses. In its cutting-edge three-motor configuration, the Tesla Cybertruck will have around 800 horsepower and 1,000 lb-ft of torque, allowing it to hit 62 mph in 2.9 seconds and tow up to 14,000 pounds. Its high performance, imposing shape, and rugged exterior could make it an ideal police vehicle.

The Tesla Cybertruck was intended for police use, but Dubai’s police force has already ordered a Cybertruck for its fleet. Canada’s police force is also hoping for a Cybertruck police vehicle. But what if the Tesla Cybertruck was turned into a military tactical combat vehicle? Rendering artist Jaп Peisert has been thinking about what an armored Tesla Cybertruck would look like, and has teamed up with YouTube group Electric Future to create four designs. They also collaborated with vehicle armorers, military specialists, and car designers to “help imagine a combat Cybertruck fit for the post-apocalyptic desert.”
The Cybertruck’s rugged exoskeleton and powerful electric propulsion system provide a good foundation for a variety of military-style upgrades, while its low thermal signature and quiet electric motor make it well-suited for stealth missions. For the Plaid Apocalypse’s “Civil” configuration, the designer has added armor protection to the EV’s body and windows, an extendable front bumper, foldable solar panels, anti-crash door handles, and utility storage for both sides.

Additionally, the Cybertruck has also been conceived as a 12-seat military transport vehicle to replace the Humvee, featuring an additional six-seat cabin, a roof-mounted engine cluster, and even a deployable convertible. Going a step further, another design turns the Cybertruck into an armored vehicle for military combat, with heavy armor and a 360-degree maneuvering cluster. The upper landing gear armor also protects it from microprocessors, while the Cybertruck’s electronics are encased in a Faraday cage to protect them from EMP blasts.
Finally, the camouflaged “Quiet Scout” configuration imagines the Tesla Cybertruck as a stealth truck for reconnaissance missions. While these designs are hypothetical, the military is considering adding electric vehicles to its fleet, so we can imagine a future where Tesla Cybertrucks are used on the battlefield. At least the armored glass shouldn’t break in these configurations.
