So I got to see other people seeing Superman, and I didn’t feel like Superman, but it was great to see my co-stars and the crew members who were also working on this amazing piece of historical media. Those moments when they saw it for the first time or when they saw Superman fly for the first time, it wasn’t that particular moment, but seeing them, seeing it. And then the coolest thing was seeing kids seeing it when people on the set brought their kids to the set or seeing it first-person, a five-, six-year-old seeing Superman. There’s nothing like it. It was amazing.”

James Gunn was with him, who provided more context on the design and creation of the costume, saying that he “didn’t want it to look like a wet T-shirt” and “didn’t want it to have a bunch of fake muscles.” However, it was a difficult task in the making of a superhero movie, which led to some doubts when it was finally completed. Gunn described being convinced by Corenswet that the suit actually fit the character, with the director explaining how Corenswet’s perception of the costume and Superman’s colorful personality influenced him. “David said, yeah, he’s an alien from space with superpowers who doesn’t want kids to be afraid of him. And that hit me then, and it hits me now when I say that, that’s who he is, and that’s where the costume comes from, and that fits into Jerry and Joe’s original vision of the return of the circus wrestlers and stuff. And that’s who Superman is. And that’s why he has a reason for his colors; his costume is so colorful. It’s because he doesn’t want to scare kids. He has red lights coming out of his eyes. He can blow things away with his breath. He wants to not scare kids.”
