Patrick Mahomes: The NFL star’s secret academic success revealed
Mahomes’ GPA is among the highest of current NFL QBs.
Patrick Mahomes stood out on the field and in the classrooms at Texas Tech.
Patrick Mahomes is renowned for his football IQ, but his academic achievements are equally impressive. From his time at Whitehouse High School to his tenure at Texas Tech, Mahomes excelled both on and off the field, with a Grade Point Average (GPA) that will leave you in awe.
In a recent interview with Tyler Today, Randi Mahomes, Patrick’s mother, revealed that her son “started getting college credits at Tyler Junior College when he was still in high school.”
Randi expressed pride in her son’s academic achievements, stating, “I am very proud of his athletic achievements. However, I am more proud of his scholastic achievements.”
Patrick Mahomes’ GPA
Mahomes maintained a remarkable 3.91 GPA during his three years at Texas Tech, well above the national average of 3.0. Despite his academic success, the Chiefs’ quarterback opted to forego his senior year and enter the 2017 NFL Draft, a decision that has since proven to be fruitful.
With a seven-year career that includes two MVP nominations, one Offensive Player of the Year award, six Pro Bowl selections, and three Super Bowl rings, Mahomes’ choice to enter the NFL early has undoubtedly paid off.
Mahomes is not the only NFL quarterback known for his academic prowess. Los Angeles Chargers’ Justin Herbert boasts a 4.01 GPA from the University of Oregon, while Russell Wilson of the Pittsburgh Steelers earned a 4.0 GPA at NC State and Wisconsin.
Tom Brady, the seven-time Super Bowl champion, achieved a 3.3 GPA at Michigan. Aaron Rodgers of the New York Jets reportedly earned a 3.9 GPA at Butte CC and a 3.6 GPA in California. Caleb Williams, the first pick in the 2024 Draft, graduated from USC with a bachelor’s degree in Communications and a 3.29 GPA.
