THE frontman of 80s raggae band UB40 has announced he will play a huge outdoor concert in Limerick next summer.

ONLY SHOW

Major 80s star announces huge outdoor concert with exact date revealed and special guests set to appear on the night

UB40 featuring Ali Campbell are set to rock an Irish crowd for one night only, alongside special support act Damien Dempsey.

The TUS Gaelic Grounds in Limerick will host the gig.

Fuelled by the voice that powered UB40 to 70 million record sales and over fifty UK chart hits, Ali Campbell is set to put on a special performance at the outdoor show.

And the Limerick gig is the only chance to see UB40 featuring Ali Campbell live in Ireland.

The show is set to feature such hist as Cherry Oh Baby, Many Rivers to Cross, Please Don’t Make Me Cry, and of course the ubiquitous Red Red Wine.

Further hits from across the band’s career such as Kingston Town, I Got You Babe, and (I Can’t Help) Falling In Love With You should also thrill fans.

And in an additional treat, spectators will see Damien Dempsey make an appearance to exclusively perform songs from his brand new album, Hold Your Joy – along with all of his fan favourites.

More acts will be announced for the one-night-only event in due course.

The concert is set to take place next year on Sunday, August 24, with tickets starting at €59.90.

Reggae band UB40 performs iconic hit ‘Red Red Wine’
Ali, a founding member of UB40, left the original band in 2008.

He later reunited with his former bandmate Astro, with the pair teaming up for several projects, including 2022’s Unprecedented – though Astro sadly passed away before the album’s release.

About his new concerts Ali said: “I think I’ve got the best reggae band in the world.

“We can play in the UK, Africa or an island like Fiji, and people will be buzzing afterwards.”

2000’s rockers Stereophonics announce first concert together in over three years
Meanwhile, another major UK band announced a tour, with Stereophonics having announced their first major UK and Ireland tour together in over three years.

Stereophonics will play in Dublin’s St. Anne’s Park, Belsonic music festival, Belfast and Cork’s Virgin Media Park along with various other locations in the UK.

Tickets for the tour go on general sale Friday, October 11 at 9am via stereophonics.com, or on ticketmaster.ie.

Mastercard cardholders have special access to presale tickets from Wednesday October 9 at 9am, until Friday, October 11 at 9am.

Tickets could be scarce on Friday morning, as the last time the band toured in 2022, they sold an estimated 250,000 tickets.
