'Pure footballer': Barcelona fans have special praise for unsung hero in Girona win

Barcelona produced a brilliant performance to get a 4-1 win over Girona to continue their winning streak in La Liga.

Lamine Yamal, Pedri and Dani Olmo all scored for the Blaugrana in a real tour de force to blow away the hosts.

But one player who silently did his job perfectly was Marc Casado. He helped Barca control possession with smart passing and fulfilled the role of a no.6 really well.

On top of all that, the young midfielder also delivered a great assist for Pedri’s goal in the second half. Casado’s performance is being hailed by Barca fans on X (Twitter) and here are some of the best reactions.

Anabella: “Marc Bernal got injured, and Marc Casadó needed to step in. He has done so flawlessly. What a player! La Masia will always be goated.”

Subham: “Marc Casado is holding his own quite nicely in that DM position when the team has no established options, a great performance from him today against a good team away from home.”

Ivar: “Casado with an assist that would have made Xavi proud. Pedri getting through the back line like Iniesta, then dribbles the goalkeeper. Vintage Barca-football.”

Neal: “Crazy how assured both Bernal, first, then Casado, have looked in the XI — you’d assume they’ve been part of this set-up for years, let alone two young lads in their debut seasons.”

AlexDimas: “With players like Lamine, Pedri, Olmo, Raphinha or Cubarsí, people will speak little about Marc Casadó, but his match showed a pure footballer.”

Harbimz: “He was so tidy today in possession and solid defensively That assist just sums up the kind of player he is, always hunting for space.”

Thomas Selby: “Casado very underrated performance today.”
