Tyreek Hill is one of the best receivers in the NFL today. The Miami Dolphins player is also usually quite open in his opinions. However, this time, he may have gone too far in insulting one of the best receivers in recent years and, to top it all off, his Dolphins coach.

Hill was the receiver with the most yards gained in 2023, with 1,799, and the second-best in number of receptions with 119. His stats have been consistent throughout his career, and among other achievements, he can boast the Super Bowl LIV title with the Kansas City Chiefs.

The former Chiefs receiver is also notorious for his constant controversies. From the recent lawsuit he faces from an OnlyFans model to his claims that he is the father of 10 children, Hill is constantly making headlines.

However, as of recently, the Dolphins star landed in hot water for insulting New England Patriots great Wes Welker.

Hill vs. Welker

A few days ago, an X user asked the community which player they considered had more hype than actual talent. Among the many responses, Hill’s stands out, as he just wrote: “Wes Welker.” The common interpretation is that the Dolphins receiver called the legendary former player “overrated.”

Welker played 11 years in the NFL, including six with the Pats, from 2007 to 2012. In his time with New EnglandWelker played in two Super Bowls, winning XLVI and losing XLII.

He retired in 2015 with 903 receptions, 9,924 yards, and 50 touchdowns. He was a two-time First Team All-Pro nominee, was called to the Pro Bowl three times, and was the leader in receptions three times, among other accolades.

After his retirement, Welker began working as a coach, and his most recent position is receivers coach in the Miami Dolphins, that is, he is Hill’s current coach.

Disrespect or trolling?

The relationship between Hill and Welker makes many fans suspect that the receiver was just making fun of his coach. However, many other users complained to the Dolphins star about his apparent lack of respect for a player considered legendary.

A few, however, also believe Hill might have a point. They argue that Welker would not have stood out as he did if he had not played with Tom Brady, the number one GOAT candidate.

Welker has not issued a response, but fans and reporters are eagerly awaiting the moment when the former Pats star returns the comment.
