Eight years ago, Colin Kaepernick chose to kneel during the national anthem played before NFL games. The QB was protesting against police brutality, starting a wave of reactions throughout the community.
It also turned out to be the last NFL season Kaepernick played in.
Pivoting his journey to become a social rights activist, Kaepernick has continued to train and hope for a comeback in football. His wife Nessa continues to support the former San Francisco 49ers QB.
In her new Instagram story, Nessa cheered Kaepernick on the eighth anniversary of him speaking up for the first time.

“We are still with you [Colin Kaepernick]. The heart and strength you have is incredible,” Nessa wrote on IG.
Earlier in August, Nessa also shared Kaepernick’s interview with Sky Sports.
“SEEING COLIN SO HAPPY IS THE BEST 😍😍😍,” Nessa wrote on Instagram.
She even added a comment from her second Instagram account:
“It would be amazing to see Colin at the upcoming Olympics.”
Nessa was most grateful for the support their international showered on Colin Kaepernick. Working as an activist for years now, Kaepernick has received backlash as well as immense love for his stand.
Colin Kaepernick hopes NFL owners will eventually get back with an offer
Despite being out of the NFL for around eight years, Kaepernick hasn’t stopped wishing for an eventual comeback. In fact, the QB believes he can still make a difference and help lead a team to a potential Super Bowl.
“We’re still training, still pushing,” Kaepernick said. “So hopefully, we’ve just got to get one of these team owners to open up.”
Of course, a comeback would be an uphill journey for Kaepernick.
“It’s something I’ve trained my whole life for, so to be able to step back on the field, I think that would be a major moment, a major accomplishment for me. I think I could bring a lot to a team and help them win a championship,” he said.
That being said, Kaepernick has also been in consideration for a coaching job with the Los Angeles Chargers.
