Fabio Capello has joined the list of those who do not consider Brazilian Vinicius Junior the favourite to win the Ballon d’Or from France Football.

In an interview with Corriere della Sera, Capello made his opinion clear: “I would give the Ballon d’Or to Rodri for his exceptional performances in the Premier League, the Champions League and the European Championship. He has been the best this season.”
Rodri and Dani Carvajal are prominent names in the ongoing debate in Spain, following their brilliance at the European Championship.

However, the general opinion is inclined to give the award to Vinicius, given his epic performances with Real Madrid, especially in the knockout phase of the Champions League.

It is worth noting that the Ballon d’Or is awarded based on football performance and not on situations or personal likes and Vinicius has shone in the decisive moments with Real Madrid, which makes him a strong candidate.

At Real Madrid, Vinicius is widely believed to be the likely winner, although Dani Carvajal is also considered among the candidates as there is a positive atmosphere in the dressing room where winning by either player is considered a given. Kylian Mbappé is also among the candidates, but given his poor performances at the European Championship and failure to win the Champions League with Paris Saint-Germain, his chances of winning seem slim.
