If not for Charlie Wilson, Snoop Dogg acknowledges that his marriage might have faced significant challenges.
Speaking at Wilson’s Hollywood Walk of Fаme Star Ceremony, Snoop shared a heartfelt revelation about a pivotal conversation with the former Gap Band vocalist that played a crucial role in saving his marriage to Shante Broadus.
Expressing deep gratitude, the Doggystyle rapper, who has been married to Shante since 1997, emphasized Wilson’s impact on his personal life.
He revealed that Wilson, aged 71, was the only person courageous enough to counsel him, urging him not to jeopardize a good thing and encouraging him to return home to his wife and family.
Snoop elaborated on Wilson’s influence, highlighting how the iconic “There Goes My Baby” singer not only conveyed these sentiments verbally but also demonstrated them through his actions, imparting valuable lessons on family values.
The rapper and Wilson have had a longstanding collaboration, starting with the 1996 album “The Doggfather,” and they’ve continued working together on subsequent projects.
In addition to praising Wilson’s contributions to his marriage, Snoop took a moment to acknowledge Wilson’s wife, Mahin Tat. He recounted an early interaction with Tat when she served as Wilson’s counselor during his rehabilitation phase. Snoop shared a humorous anecdote about the initial resistance to Tat’s request that no one smoked in the studio when Wilson was present. However, after a respectful conversation, Snoop and his colleagues refrained from smoking around Wilson, showcasing the deep respect instilled by Tat.
Throughout his speech, the “Gin and Juice” rapper expressed gratitude for the valuable lessons Wilson taught him, encompassing showmanship, business, and the importance of family. Snoop emphasized the rarity of finding reliable individuals in the entertainment industry and expressed immense appreciation for Wilson’s enduring presence in his life and support for his family.
