Scarlett Johansson’s reunion with Marvel Studios was long anticipated, but details of the project have been kept tightly under wraps until now. MCU and Black Widow fans can breathe a sigh of relief, as the mystery has finally been unveiled. This morning, Marvel released the first trailer and poster for ‘Thunderbolts’, along with the exciting news that Johansson will serve as an executive producer on the film.

This marks her first collaboration with Marvel since stepping away from her iconic role as Black Widow. It seems Johansson is eager to move forward, focusing on other franchises like ‘Jurassic World’, while letting Yelena Belova (Florence Pugh), introduced in ‘Black Widow’, take the reins in ‘Thunderbolts’.

In addition to Pugh, ‘Thunderbolts’ boasts an impressive cast, making it one of the most anticipated team-ups in Marvel’s post-Endgame era. Sebastian Stan is back as Bucky Barnes, with a nod to ‘The Winter Soldier’ in the trailer, where Bucky uses a grenade launcher to blow up a car. David Harbour and Wyatt Russell return as Red Guardian and U.S. Agent, respectively, while Julia Louis-Dreyfus reprises her role as Valentina Allegra de Fontaine, leading this ragtag group of anti-heroes.

Also joining the cast is ‘Top Gun: Maverick’ star Lewis Pullman as Robert Reynolds/Sentry, alongside Rachel Weisz, Olga Kurylenko, Hannah John-Kamen, and Geraldine Viswanathan.

Before ‘Thunderbolts’ storms into theatres on 2nd  May 2025, Marvel will first introduce Anthony Mackie’s Captain America in ‘Captain America: Brave New World’, arriving on 14th February. Following ‘Thunderbolts’, one of Marvel’s most highly anticipated films, ‘The Fantastic Four: First Steps’, starring Pedro Pascal and Vanessa Kirby, is set for release on 25th July. 2025 will also see the releases of ‘Daredevil: Born Again’ and ‘Blade’, although the latter may face further delays due to ongoing production challenges.
