Disney lost $3.870 million overnight because of the Jimmy Kimmel situation.

Fans are canceling Disney+ over Jimmy Kimmel suspension: Here’s how to join the protest

Jimmy Kimmel was taken off the air for some comments that the President of the USA didn’t like.

As Donald Trump plunges the USA into an ever-increasing authoritarian regime where speech is silenced, media is monitored, and criticism is criminalised, there are fewer and fewer voices left to speak out against his politics.

Jimmy Kimmel was one of them. While not everyone’s favourite late-night talk show host, he was part of American culture: everybody knew Kimmel’s face, voice, and show, broadcast on ABC since January 26, 2003.

That was until he ‘went too far’ in the eyes of King Trump, who apparently did not like Kimmel’s comments on his answer to a press question a short time after the death of Charlie Kirk, and was taken off the air.

I repeat: this cancellation was not due to what Kimmel said about Charlie Kirk, it was due to his take on Donald Trump’s own comments.

What did Jimmy Kimmel say?

Here’s what Kimmel said that got him cancelled:

“We hit some new lows over the weekend with the MAGA gang desperately trying to characterise this kid who murdered Charlie Kirk as anything other than one of them and doing everything they can to score political points from it. In between the finger-pointing, there was grieving.”

“On Friday, the White House flew the flags at half staff, which got some criticism, but on a human level, you can see how hard the president is taking this.”

The video then cuts to Trump being asked about Kirk’s death and how he is handling it. The President responds by bragging about the new White House ballroom, saying: “I think very good, and by the way, right there where you see all the trucks, they just started construction of the new ballroom for the White House. It’s going to be a beauty.”

“Yes, he’s at the fourth stage of grief, construction,” Kimmel remarks as the camera cuts back to him. “This is not how an adult grieves the murder of someone he called a friend. This is how a 4-year-old mourns a goldfish, okay?

Federal Communications Commission Chairman Brendan Carr threatened ABC right before Disney, the parent company, bent the knee and removed Kimmel from the air.

ABC’s decision came right after Nexstar Media, one of the network’s largest affiliate groups, announced that it would be pulling the show. Clearly, Donald wasn’t happy and pressured those in charge.

“Mr. Kimmel’s comments about the death of Mr. Kirk are offensive and insensitive at a critical time in our national political discourse, and we do not believe they reflect the spectrum of opinions, views, or values of the local communities in which we are located,” Andrew Alford, the president of Nexstar’s broadcasting division, said in a statement. “Continuing to give Mr. Kimmel a broadcast platform in the communities we serve is simply not in the public interest at the current time, and we have made the difficult decision to preempt his show in an effort to let cooler heads prevail as we move toward the resumption of respectful, constructive dialogue.”

Trump himself blamed the ratings, but things go deeper: earlier in the year, Stephen Colbert was also taken off the air for his comments on the regime, to which Trump posted on his social media network that Kimmel will be ”next up.”
