Barcelona consider Mingueza return - 4 other La Masia products club could bring back

It is reported in that Barcelona are looking for a new right-back – and La Masia graduate Oscar Mingueza is among their options.

The 25-year-old, who made 66 first-team appearances for Blaugrana before being sold in 2022, has been in a top-notch form for Celta recently and received a senior Spain call-up earlier in September.

In the summer, Barca re-signed their academy product Dani Olmo – and he’s proving to be a good fit so far. Here are a few other La Masia graduates the club should consider re-signing.

Arnau Martinez. The 21-year-old has established himself as a first-team player at Girona over the past two years. Last season showed that he can compete on the highest level as Girona finished third in the La Liga table. Arnau can play at right-back and centre-back and his versatility and physicality could be an asset to Barca.

Xavi Simons. The Dutchman is already one of the most prized assets in football – and PSG are reportedly not ready to sell him. His eight goals and eleven assists in 32 games for Leipzig last season speak for themselves. The 21-year-old is one of football’s rising stars and seeing him back in Barca colours would be a dream come true.

Juan Miranda. Barca do not have an established back-up / competitor to Alex Balde on the left-hand side of defence – so perhaps they should be looking for a left-back. Miranda left Barca for Betis in 2020, first on loan and then permanently and showed there that he’s at La Liga level. He moved to Bologna in the summer but Barca should definitely keep tabs on him.

Lionel Messi. The great Argentine is also a La Masia graduate – and who would say no to the GOAT’s last dance in the Blaugrana shirt?
