Eighties pop star Cindy Lauper to retire after final tour
The ‘Girls Just Wanna Have Fun Farewell Tour’ will Begin on October 18, 2024
One pop star has decided it’s time to step away from the stage. Cindy Lauper, one of the queens of the 80’s and pop music, a beloved personality within the industry by all fans of the genre, has decided to call it a day.
The singer’s farewell tour, ‘Girls Just Wanna Have Fun Farewell Tour’, will begin on October 18 in Montreal, and will end on December 5 at the United Center in Chicago. It will have 23 concerts that will, no doubt, be unforgettable for all of her fans, who will enjoy her songs one last time before her retirement.
Cindy Lauper and her incredible story to get to the top
The artist introduced herself to the world with her first album in 1983, ‘She’s so unusual’. Aside from her musing, her style of dress made her unique throughout her career.
Her career would prove to be an incredible one, and at the age of 15, she was already writing her own songs.
She started singing in different bars and even worked in several stores as a sales clerk. However, a producer from Portrait Records noticed her and changed her life completely.
Lauper has a Grammy for her efforts and several gold records. For 40 years she dedicated her body and soul to music, releasing no less than 11 albums, with the last one coming in the form of ‘Detour’, in 2016.
It is quite likely that the legend’s retirement is due to health problems, given she is battling psoriasis and other issues.
Although she is in her 70s, she is still just as recognizable to the public and maintains the unique style that helped take her to the top of the industry.
She was never the queen of pop, with Madonna eclipsing her during her career, but she will always be remembered as one of the best in history.
