In a class action lawsuit, fans claim Madonna and entertainment company Live Nation ‘deliberately withheld’ information about her concerts.
Madonna is being sued by fans who claim she was “deceived” during her Celebration Tour .
According to court documents obtained by People , Justen Lipeles filed a class-action lawsuit against Madonna, 65, in California on May 30, accusing the pop queen and her promoter Live Nation of “lulling” concertgoers into “overpriced tickets.” Organizers of The Celebration Tour shows in February and March 2024 “deliberately and fraudulently” concealed information in their marketing.

The plaintiffs allege that Madonna and Live Nation failed to notify ticket buyers that the singer’s scheduled performances at four California venues would not begin on time “as promised,” instead waiting until after 10 p.m. for the concert to begin.
The filing also accuses the pop star of deliberately maintaining a “hot and uncomfortable” demeanor during performances, which fans claim she “largely lip-syncs”.
Forum Entertainment, Kia Forum, Acrisure Arena, Golden 1 Center, Chase Center are named in the lawsuit along with Madonna and Live Nation.
The lawsuit also alleges that concertgoers were “forced to watch topless women” simulate “sexual acts” on stage during Madonna’s performances and were “forced to watch sexually explicit material without warning”.
Throughout her career, Madonna has maintained a sexually comfortable environment, with performances featuring provocative dancers with some sensitive moves.
The May 2024 lawsuit against Madonna alleges the music icon engaged in “unfair, illegal, and deceptive business practices” that demonstrate “blatant disrespect for her fans.”
According to the documents, the plaintiffs are suing the Like a Virgin singer and related parties for unspecified damages for breach of contract, negligence, emotional distress, unfair competition and false advertising.
Madonna’s representative has not commented on the lawsuit.
In January 2024, Madonna was sued by two fans who accused her of starting a concert on her Celebration Tour at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, claiming “false advertising” for starting the concert at 10:30 p.m. (it was scheduled to start at 8:30 p.m.). Live Nation was also named in the lawsuit.
Three months after the filing, Madonna’s legal team filed a motion to dismiss the two fans’ claims, arguing that their accusations were without merit.

“Nowhere, at no time, did the defendant advertise that Madonna would be on stage at 8:30 p.m. No audience member, and certainly no Madonna fan, would expect the headline act at a major concert to appear at that time,” the singer’s lawyer said.
“Instead, the audience must understand that the doors to the venue will open before the actual start time of the show,” the lawyer added. “One or more opening acts may perform while attendees make their way to their seats, before the main act appears on stage and of course later.”
Marcus Corwin, an attorney for the two fans, previously told People that his clients would file a response to Madonna’s motion to dismiss the lawsuit within 30 days. “We believe our response will address the issues raised in the complaint and once the court is fully notified, we can proceed with this action for damages. Those who purchased tickets are asking for refunds,” he said.
Following the lawsuit in January, Live Nation released a statement to People : “Madonna sold out and completed The Celebration Tour in Europe, receiving rave reviews. The North American shows opened at Barclays in Brooklyn as planned, except for a technical issue on December 13, 2023 during sound check. This caused a delay that was clearly documented in reports at the time.”
