Henry Cavill kick-started the DC Extended Universe in 2013 with Man of Steel. Looking back at the positive reactions the movie received back in the day, one wonders why DC chiefs couldn’t keep up with their own standards and mimic the same quality in other DCEU projects.
What’s even more puzzling is the fact that the very brilliant Cavill isn’t part of James Gunn’s Superman: Legacy. The square-jawed British actor was the perfect Superman. Fans didn’t just love his superb physique and combating skills when he took on his opponents, but also really liked the charming personality of his alter ego, Clark Kent.
Amy Adams and Henry Cavill.
In particular, Clark’s down-to-earth persona with Lois Lane (Amy Adams) really reflected his geeky side (the way it is meant in the comics) very well. Both Cavill and Adams shared lovely chemistry, albeit with one minor hiccup.

In one of the scenes of Zack Snyder’s Man of Steel, the world has seemingly gone awry, and amid all the burning buildings and rubbles, Amy Adams‘ Lois Lane kisses Henry Cavill‘s Superman (by that time she’s made aware of Clark’s identity).

The contrasting nature of the scene is certainly beautiful and despite all the chaos, the way Snyder approached the moment, the romantic encounter felt smooth. However, smooth is exactly the word Cavill would never use to describe that kiss, at least that’s what his reaction on The Graham Norton Show suggested in 2013.

In conversation with Graham Norton, the pair gave an insight into what went behind the scenes (as well as in their minds) during and after that kiss.
The American Hustle actress used too much tongue during the kiss. “I tried that [using tongue] with Henry it didn’t work,” Adams said. Cavill replied, “Too much, it was too much”.
“I’m coming across as such a creep for poor Henry. I talked to other people like ‘Oh Henry is beautiful, he’s such a nice guy.’ But then you say it in front of him and then you feel like really creepy.”
Thankfully the moment didn’t ruin their chemistry, which only got better when they reprised their respective roles in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.

Who Taught Amy Adams the Bizarre Kissing Technique
The six-time Academy Award-nominated actress certainly doesn’t need much guidance when it comes to acting, having delivered a number of excellent performances since her debut in the movie Drop Dead Gorgeous in 1999.
Ben Affleck, Amy Adams, and Henry Cavill.
However, she’s clearly not very confident about her kissing technique and had to take a leaf out of David O. Russell’s book to stun Cavill. Adams revealed her American Hustle director has a thing for tongue. “He likes to see it. He’s like a 1980s music video or something,” she said (via The Graham Norton Show).
On a serious note, despite that awkward kiss, Cavill and Adams were absolutely brilliant as Clark and Lois. Both David Corenswet and Rachel Brosnahan will have to step in a big way in Superman: Legacy to make DC fans forget their favorite couple.
