Steven Tyler is back on stage!
About six months after Aerosmith announced their retirement from touring in the wake of Tyler’s onstage larynx fracture in September 2023, the 76-year-old vocalist took the stage for a performance at his Jam for Janie Grammy Awards Viewing Party in Los Angeles on Feb. 2.
PEOPLE was in attendance for the event at the Hollywood Palladium, where Tyler first performed a cover of Extreme’s “More Than Words” with Mick Fleetwood and Nuno Bettencourt.

Tyler also did a rendition of Aerosmith’s “Toys in the Attic” with Bettencourt before sharing the stage with Lainey Wilson for “Dream On.” Then, he performed “Sweet Emotion” and “Walk This Way” with bandmate Tom Hamilton as well as Chris Robinson.
Earlier in the evening, while auctioning off a piano Aerosmith used on stage for “Dream On” on past tours, Tyler sat down, played some keys and sang a quick few lines of the song by himself, earning a standing ovation. Fans were clearly excited to see Tyler, who had a huge smile on his face by the end of the show.
The Jam for Janie Grammy Awards Viewing Party benefitted Tyler’s charity Janie’s Fund, which aims to “bring hope and healing to girls who have suffered the trauma of abuse and neglect,” according to its website.

A large portion of the evening also focused on supporting L.A. firefighters in the wake of the fires that’ve devastated the city since Jan. 7.
In August 2024, nearly one year after Tyler’s injury, Aerosmith shared a lengthy statement on Instagram announcing their retirement from touring.
“As you know, Steven’s voice is an instrument like no other. He has spent months tirelessly working on getting his voice to where it was before his injury. We’ve seen him struggling despite having the best medical team by his side. Sadly, it is clear, that a full recovery from his vocal injury is not possible,” read the statement, which arrived after three stops of the band’s farewell tour.

The band continued, “We have made a heartbreaking and difficult, but necessary, decision – as a band of brothers – to retire from the touring stage. We are grateful beyond words for everyone who was pumped to get on the road with us one last time.”
In an interview with WBUR last month, however, Hamilton hinted at a possible reunion for the band. “Steven’s healing process is going really, really well, but it goes at its own pace,” he said.
“Maybe Aerosmith will do something in the future, but it’s a big if and the last thing I want to be doing is to try and push Steven in that direction,” continued the bassist. “If we do anything in the future, it would come from him.”
