Jelly Roll Gets Vulnerable With Fans as He Announces Social Media Resurgence

Jelly Roll & Lainey Wilson's Live Performance of "Save Me" Is So Raw | NBC Insider

Earlier this year, Jelly Roll stepped away from social media. His wife, Bunnie Xo, blamed online trolls who made disparaging comments about the country star’s weight.

While that was certainly a factor, Jelly later clarified that he was also fed up with losing hours of his life to mindless scrolling. (And honestly, relatable.) However, in the last few weeks, his followers have seen the “Need a Favor” singer’s accounts heating up again. The East Tennessee native (born Jason Deford) recently explained the reason for his virtual comeback.

Jelly Roll Has New Music To Promote

Jelly Roll came to his 7.2 million followers “hat in hand” in a video posted to TikTok Monday (Aug. 19.) He said that while social media isn’t really his forte, it is a necessary component of promoting “the biggest album of my life.”

“An album that I have dedicated literally 18 months to writing,” said Jelly, 39. “And because of that, I’m fixing to be all over TikTok.”

Next, he welcomed fans to join him on this journey. “And don’t make fun of me if you see my fat a– dancing on here, doing the Cha Cha Slide or something with one of my new songs. I’m just trying to create awareness for this album.”

(That remark elicited a comment from the artist’s wife, Bunnie Xo. “I wanna see this dance you speak of,” the Dumb Blonde podcast host wrote playfully. Another TikTok user chimed in: “queen bunnies has spoken. let see the dance.”)

“I’m coming here blatantly asking for support, y’all,” Jelly Roll continued. “And I hope I don’t annoy the f— out of y’all—but man, I’m fixing to start posting, dude.”

Here’s What We Know About the Upcoming Album

Jelly Roll has hinted he will release the eagerly-anticipated follow-up to 2023’s groundbreaking Whitsitt Chapel sometime this fall. From the glimpses he has allowed us to catch, the album (reportedly titled Beautifully Broken) promises more of the same gritty storytelling that spurred his meteoric rise to fame.

The GRAMMY-nominated artist has officially released two of the forthcoming record’s tracks, “Liar” and “I Am Not Okay.” Another track, “Get By,” will feature as the 2024-25 ESPN College GameDay anthem.
